My primary suggestion for everybody that asks me are Hitachis, I have a 751, a couple of my friends have the newer 771 and 772's and Hitachi's never disappointed anybody I recommend them to. Considering the 772's can be had for under $400, that's just another plus.

If you MUST get a trinitron display, I personally prefer Iiyama. Although I'd settle for a KDS (sony tubes), or an actual Sony branded monitor.

Even with these recommendations, I recommend you run out to a Best Buy or CompUSA and LOOK at the monitors--don't BUY, just LOOK. Write down the model numbers that you like and go with those--this is a very personal decision and what one person likes, another may not like.

Just an example, my several of my friends love FD-Trinitron displays, but I hate them 'cause I ALWAYS notice the damper wires no matter what, and for some reason, all of them ('cept the Iiyama's) look a little washed out for me.
