You should look into your system drivers and make sure something hasn't gotten duplicated or corrupted.

Start by booting to Safe Mode, bring up the System Properties, and go to the Device Manager tag.

Un-collapse the various trees and look for duplicate or 'shadow' entries. You probably already have at least one shadow from your old hard drive. Any time you find shadows or duplicates, delete all instances and then let Windows re-find the correct device on your next reboot.

If that doesn't help, try uninstalling both your MP3 player and your soundcard drivers, and re-install.
