My stepsons did this on his crome for @ 800 MHz
TBird (non-OCed) awhile back & was new @ xmas
time. He had over 240 virus infected files on his
ME computer but his real problem was a broken CPU
fan.
Whats real odd was I was working on his HD partition & formating & started Win ME & I got an
hardware monitor message. So I started diggin in his BIOS & noticed on his ASUS A7V133 he had CPU fan monitoring (beeping) so I activated this. Then I noticed the shut computer right down on startup if fan trouble so I activated this & saved the new settings & rebooted only to have the computer shut right down again, I turned right back on & it shut
right back down again. I could not find a CMOS reset pins so I pulled out the case some so I could see it & I hit the standby button & the CPU fan never did go on. Upon touching the fan it would not move easy @ all. I changed over to a small fan I have screwed onto top of the ORB H/S
the computer starts now but the temp when idle is
145 degrees F so I must change the fan over to something more powerfull.
