Packard-Bell was originally its own company, and at one time it was one of the top-five Tier 1 computer vendors. Later it merged with NEC, and the company continued to market computers under both names.

However, a while back NEC killed its Packard-Bell division entirely and now markets computers only under the NEC name.

If memory serves, Packard-Bell was killed just as some of the faster Coppermine processors were being incorporated into its machines.
