Got the RegClean.exe utility and ran it. Only one error relating to the computer identified as my wifes. Seems insignificant
Ran SFC and it found one error.
Safemode showed everything alright except for a duplicate in a sound card driver...I'm not at that computer now so can't say which driver. Anyway, cleared both and restarted and everything worked as it should have.
However, Scandisk hasn't ever wanted to work on that computer in Win. Always cuts out after an hourish and says Win is trying to write to the disk. I haven't tried running it from DOS or going to msconfig to stop all unnecessary programs from starting at boot. Also, I guess could be an issue with Norton antivirus...I forgot to turn that off last night.
Anyway, Scandisk did run on auto fix errors for at least 25% of the drive. I don't want to defrag until Scandisk has been done.
Bottom line though is that now the MOUSE SEEMS TO BE OKAY. We'll give it a few days and see if it really is or not.
