First, by any chance do you have an older FIC VA-503+?

Second, how did you install the video card? Did you first uninstall the old drivers and change the video card to "Standard VGA adapter" in the Display Properties, then reboot and install the new card? It's possible you have old drivers that are causing havoc in the background.

If you haven't tried this already: Re-boot to Safe Mode, go to the "Add/Remove Programs" in the Control Panel, and remove every video card driver listed.

Next, bring up "System Properties" in the Control Panel, and select the "Device Manager" tag. Un-collapse the tree under "Display Adapters" and delete every entry that you see. Un-collapse the tree under "Monitors" and delete every entry there, too.

Close the "System Properties", go back to the Control Panel, and bring up "Display Properties". Under the "Settings" tag, click on the "Advanced" button. Choose the "Adapter" tag, click "Change". Navigate until you can choose "Standard Display Adapter (VGA)". "Okay" your way out of everything and reboot when prompted.

The system will come back in 16-color, 640x480. Run the Detonator installer, and reboot when asked.
