Know what you mean there. My machine is a nightmare to hook up...cables get to be a problem. Full tower. But my HDD is in a 5.25" Bay..solved the cable shortage.
Sometimes two optical drives won't work together.
On mine My burner is master and CD-ROM is slave. No problems. LED may be right about the VIA Busmasters but it also may be the some DVD's just don't like being slaves to a burner. It'll be something goofy tho.
