DMA is enabled. As near as I can tell that's when the lockup problems started, but if I uncheck it, the playback stutters occassionally.

Regarding the SBLive!, I'm using LiveWare 3.0. I haven't had any problems with it that I can tell. I've reinstalled DirectX with no effect.

The nature of the problem makes me want to blame a chipset/DVD-ROM compatibility issue, but AFAIK I've got all the right drivers in place.

Generally when it locks up on launch, PowerDVD goes to fullscreen mode and begins accessing the DVD (the light blinks). Then the access stops, and the drive, or the IDE channel (not sure which), is gone. I can't use the eject button on the DVD even if I three-finger PowerDVD and return to windows. Attempting to access the drive from Explorer then stalls the system.

After that only a reset gets everything back to normal.
