I was going to suggest purchasing items with a credit card. Depending on the card I think you have 30 to 90 to return items from the palce of purchase.
If a vendor refuses to take the items back you can call your credit card co. and tell them your story. Most credit card companies will back you up by contacting the vendor or just giving you a refund on the spot. They can bring a lot of weight to bear because they can decide to pull that vendors credit card account. Can you imagine a majior retailer losing their ability to accept Visa of Master Card?
