There is no downside when usinga slcoekt to conert a socket370 p3 chip for use to a slot 1 board. The only matter that is of concern when choosing the slocket is to make dead-sure the appropriate slocekt is selected that will support the special needs of Coppermine in socket form.

An ideal slocket would be from IWILL.

On the matter of heatsink weight, some matter must be given the use the proper heatsink as weight can matter..the heatsink may slide off a tad and not provide pefect contact.

The heatsink designed for use on Slot 1 p3 has however, it's weight more distrbuted through the processor module itself and in the retention brackets which secure the processor in place.

But, the pricing of a third party heatsink/fan for slot 1 processors is near high-way robbery, and I sugest that if you do purchase a slot 1 p3 coppermine, purchase retail.

And by the way, socket p3 and slot 1 p3, so long as they are both copppermine, are exactly the same processor.
