win2k problems

I dont know what the deal is, but im having some issues with win2k now. it's an asus a7v with amd 1000, 128 megs of quality ram, quantum fireball 30 gig, ati rage fury 128, and creative sblive. The problem is that directx doesnt work anymore. I went to play unreal tournament today, and it loaded up in some sort of window thingie, so I tried diablo 2, and it gave me an error about not being able to initialize direct draw. another problem i just started having is in microsoft netmeeting, everything works, except for the options screen, it insta-freezes whenever i click the options. I have reinstalled directx, gotten latest drivers for the ati, uninstalled several programs, but still i get these same errors. any suggestions please?
