what THUNDER was saying holds -- If you're indoors using central heating or air conditioning, that itself will help regulate the humidity.

But if the outdoor air is fairly humid, e.g. near dewpoint (rainfall), the extra moisture can corrode things. And partly it just depends on the general climate conditions where you live.
