To many security problems with Linux. Thats why I use OpenBSD 2.8 for my router on the unix lan. I hide my win2k lan behind a router....

Unless you know unix I would just run a Win2k server behind a router. The SOHOware NBG800 is inexpensive ($179) and has stateful packet inspection. It will support up to 253 users. If you have more than 253 users you should have the budget to call Foundry Works or Cisco for a "real" router

But if you want to use an old computer as a router check out www.gnatbox.com. Has a custom OS based on the BSD kernel and stateful packet inspection...would be alot more secure than linux.

Anyway, there are many options available...but I would steer clear of linux. To many script kiddies use and crack it for fun.
