Good luck, I worked at a RadioShack store for a couple years, and of course people would bring in a lot of out-of-warranty equipment for repair at the Tandy Service Center.
My boss's observation was that it can be "extremely difficult" to get parts from Sony -- In-warranty, and they treat you like their top customer, but out of warranty -- they'd rather sell you another, so the usual run-around is a long delay followed by "so sorry, parts not available..."
