maybe there are those who don't do their homework. Different mainboard manufacturers do different things for their boards. Example...someone mentioned the gigabyte board...we had problems with those boards...with IRQ tables and routing. Was that VIA's fault, or Gigabyte's. EPoX on the other hand has had none of these problems. Their mainboards have a bios that allows you to set irqs manually. So, why would that be a VIA thang. We have had the same problems with Intel chipset mainboards from manufacturers. Just because that manufacturer has a big name doesn't mean they always make top notch boards.

So, your generic accusations make for good rumors. I think this is one that shouldn't be spread. Using some common sense is always the best solution.
