I used to have Win2K on both my machines, but I switched back to WinME on my gaming machine due to the fact that PowerDVD can't use the motion compensation of the GeForce2GTS card. DVD playback was choppy.

I've tried Q3 and UT on Win2K and had no problems or speed loss. Microsoft continues to release patches for compatibility (including game compatibility) for Win2K. They were amazed how many gamers preferred it to Win9x, hence the extra patches.

A download you should get is the Win2000 Game Launcher (click below). Basically, when Win2K starts an app, the app receives a rating that tells the OS how much resources to allocate (this aids memory allocation in multitasking). By using this proggie, it forces Win2K to give the game it's undivided attention and as much resources as possible. It will definitely speed things up. Here's another link that might be useful.
