the jupiter mission was launched last week from the MIR spacestation just hours before it began it's deorbit.
the hal9000 is running the last beta of windows XP + aol6.0 and a mac osX emulator.
basically all will go well till dave right clicks to delete his spam and confuses the osX emulator.
this will cause hal to erroneously conclude that his winmodem is about to blow a resistor.
only the microsoft tech support personnel in suspended animation know that the built in XP voice recognition can read lips. oops.
so dave loads the "HAL9000 for Dummies" ebook and reboots to Linux.
lucky for dave that the elsa galactic geforce III in the pod came bundled with a really cool virtual reality demo.
