With my Promise card, I have my 2 15 GB drives set up as 1 30 GB array. Then with fdisk, I partitioned the array into a 5 GB primary partition, and a 25 GB secondary partition, with all of the 25 GB assigned to one logical drive. I could have made mulitple logical drives out of the 25 GB secondary partition if I had wanted to. Both partitions work as RAID 0.

I don't think you can tell the RAID controller "Use only the first half of each drive as RAID, and leave the rest to be normal partitions." You should be able to set multiple logical drives within your RAID array, though. Once you tell the RAID controller to stripe the drives, fdisk should see them as one bigger "physical" drive, and will act accordingly.
