Rain, cpuidle, or some type of software that issues the HLT command to idle the cpu.

NT, win2k, linux, BSD all do this by default. This alone drops my cpu's from "to hot to touch" to nice and cold. All the heatsinks and fans in the world would not cool down my K6-III 450 (or my p2 266@300mhz) before I stated using Rain.

I'm running a P3 650e oc'ed to 806mhz (6.5*124Mhz) with winME right now...Rain works fine with ME also

Cheers
