As long as you sit in the centre and the woofers aren't more away of each other than several meters ( this distance can be increased with more power ) you won't hear a BOOM twice. Such a BOOM can also be reflected by walls and other obstacles...

We had some small soundsystem ( range of 10kW, don't know for sure ) for a Movenpick in Zurich at the StreetParade last August. There were two stacks of 5 woofers and 5 tops each which were about 50m away . It sounded great... these turbosound babies are great anyways...
