Bad signal cable or bent signal pin. The monitor recognizes the computer but the signal goes to ground instead. Check the plug and see what the pins look like. Check the cable for nicks or bents. If you don't see anything obvious, have it serviced, doesn't cost you an arm and a leg if you go to a professional service center.

One, very remote possibility is that you have phase and ground reversed on the power outlet (wall outlet) and induce a short through the common shielding of the cable with the computer case. Try using a power strip to plug in all devices and see whether that helps. Otherwise, I'll keep smoking ,,,
