Cirrus chipsets are pretty shithouse.
I had a web excel internal ISA 56k (using rockwell chipset) and it rocked.
it was an el-cheapo and yet I still managed staggering pings (<180) and consistent downloads (>4KB/sec)
yet I get this external web excel 56k modem (using Cirrus/ambient chipset) and it's so slow.
I returned the first cos I thought I got a dud, but the 2nd I got was exactly the same.
