I recently installed a new hard drive that is ata-100. I'm using an older MB but have upgraded the
bios chip. Now when I boot the machine I get a message that "no 80 pin connector" is installed but the 80 pin cable is installed. Also at boot up the summary screen detects the drive as
udma 33. I've run the software supplied with hd to enable 100. I've talked to tech support from
western digital and that was a waste. When I purchased the bios chip from unicore they told me that the upgrade would support ata-100. They don't seem to have any answers either. Do I need
an ata controller card also? Any help would be
appreciated. Thanks
