Speed error conttrol=DISabled, not enabled.

When you were setting Soft Menu for the FSB and vre it is right on that menu a little further down the list. If you don't disable it, it will keep reverting back to a predetermined bus (66 or 100 vs 133) speed at the until you have disabled it. I haven't run into a recent ABIT issue (last two years, even longer)with the BX chipset that didn't have this option in the soft menu, if imy memory serves me correctly.

Look around again one line at a time. When I first started clocking I missed this setting more than once and was left to sctratch my head for awhile. It gets easier with time.

Setting by dips isn't a bad thing, but it does mean you have to get intot the box when you want to try other settings. Once you get the soft menu to work properly with the correct settings, then resetting the FSB and tinkering with the vre are a snap, and you never have to shut down and tyake the side off.
