spyware/adware has several ways of installing.
i expect it occasionally in shareware and some freeware.
the tsadbot crap turned up on a $10 majongg cd that i bought
from office depot about 6 months ago. that disk is now in a stack of failed cd-r's and aol coasters. it was even stated in the eula (which i didnt read till later) that it would install adware. up until that time, i rarely read eula's. i read a lot more of them now, even though i hate wading thru all that lawyer babble.
i'm not overly resentful of it, as it is just part of the game.
its a pain in the ass but i usually run Ad-aware after installing most software, and run it every couple of days as part of my maintenance routine just before defrag.
