I had it happen on my first socketA chip. I was in
a hurry and just wanted to see if it would boot.
It did....but.....I started loading 98SE. It made
it until the "setting up PnP devices" then crapped
out.
Temp was 50C+. I'm supprised yours throws errors
at 44C but then again, the senser is located under
the socket. The die, on surface-top, is much
hotter. Think of it as an instant burn-in. (My
chip is fine and still running).
