Win98 is much faster than W2K and, if set up correctly, it is stable. I mean, I torture my boxes really badly but getting one BSOD / month is the worst I have (unless there are other reasons like a bad connection to the server). It all depends on how the system is set up and how much junk is running in the background. My average is at least 10 open windows (currently 17, heavy duty stuff) and with 256 MB system RAM there is no problem at all.

W2K is not bad though but the minimum memory required is 256MB, otherwise it is a torture for the swapfile. Again, a lot depends on the way of how the system is set up. Here are two examples:
