I would suggest two options here. One is to use your existing components and just dump your mainboard which could be the source of all your grief. Top choices are the ASUS CUSL2 and the Gigabyte GA60XE or the Transcend ASL-3 (there are other good boards out there but I happen to like those). A lot depends on the quality of the board so you may see some real improvement (unless your CPU is a dog which can happen)

If you decide to go the more radical way, the new VIA 133A chipset is the top choice (provided that your memory is not the prime source of the problems, the CPU should do 850 MHz + easily)

There are a number of excellent boards out there, Iwill KK266, ASUS A7V133, MSI K7T Pro Turbo, just to mention a few.

The even more radical solution is to move to the DDR platform and there is a steadily growing number of good boards out there.
