many vendors specify their chips according to clock access time (tAC) instead of clock cycle time. One example are the MTech chips that say -6 meaning that you need to add some 1.5 - 2 ns for setup time and that gets them right up to a borderline PC133 qualification (at 3:3:3). Another notorious cheater is PC133 (brand name) who sells low grade PC100 DIMMs. The two key components of any system are the power supply and the memory, most other things are second rated and it does pay to shell out the extra $10 for a certified DIMM with a no questions asked lifetime warranty |
