Uninstall, then reinstall the Adaptec software, then visit Adaptec's website and see if any specific issues are listed in the FAQ's, it may solve your software problem.

There may/should be be a patch.

Yes, CD-RW can be reformatted again and again, up to a theoretical 1000 times or so. Your problem is with the software and your present configuration.
