I recently saw a post about making a video-imaging computer, which was replied to by MS and he linked to a site with configurations for gaming CPU's as well. I followed the instructions on the link, partioning the hard drive into 3 partitions. One for the OS (Win2k) only (2 gigs), one for the swap file (500 mb), and one with the rest of the space for games and programs. Then I did the defrag on the OS drive and installed Q3A. Amazingly enough, I actually gain about 15-20fps with the new X3DFX drivers (posted on here as well). Not to mention that Win2k runs faster and programs load much faster...now if I could only get my ATA-100 working =( It runs really sluggish for some reason....if anyone knows why, it would help. I have the Epox 8KTA2 and a WD ATA-100 20gig hard drive. Well, just wanted to let everyone know that the setup I described really does add performance. Surprised me I suppose =)
