check the little selector switch on the back of your case for the power supply if it is a new case it could be set at 230v which I believe is for use in other countries. it should be set to 115v I fought with my new outfit for about 2 days with what sounds like the similar problems before I saw in big red letters on the cardboard box the case came in "WARNING CHECK VOLTAGE SWITCH BEFORE CONNECTING POWER" boy did I feel dumb set it right and it purred like a kitten.
