I've done a bunch and a few ata66's. I nicked 2 on a standard ide..you should have seen the shit it did on my vid card..LOL
On standard I cut in groups of 2 ata66 I do 8.
WD says it's fine just keep the ground wire with it's mate. Their is a company in Japan that cuts by machine..would love to talk to them.
The best way to do it would be..buy bulk ribbon and machine cut and crimp connectors and use rubber tubing...pretty much like they're doing.
Closed case it "might" drop the temp 3~5c..but for me it just cleans up the mess inside.
Lots of human error..machine cut is the way.
