Everything I burn at 8X seems to make coasters. Even copying files straight from the HDD. The slower I burn CD's the better (faster) my ASUS 50x max reads them. I get this impression because I hear it keep stepping down, in spin speed, until it can finally read the data on a CD burned at a faster speed. With Cds burned at 2x it will reads at full twirl.

Is this typical, or is it a result of the media I am attempting to burn to which is usually TDK certified plus? It is supposed to support 8x but...?
