AFAIK, you need SOME video card installed before the motherboard will do anything for you, unless it has some extra features permitting for a headless console.

You say you were using "mobo, cpu, ram, HD, monitor" and the monitor is plugged into someplace... is the video card built into the motherboard? Do you have to jumper enable it (undo it being disabled)

The beeps you reported were a complaint about the video... that's the path to pursue.
