The ATi Rage Fury was hyped beyond believe when it first came out and I remember having the only critical review claiming otherwise with the consequence that there were even a few ATi guys protesting on the LC BBS. It took a few months for most consumers to realize what was really going on and I am far from blaming ATi or anyone affiliated with them, it was a minor design flaw that can happen and they had to cover their losses. Otherwise we would have only nVidia left by now.

On the other hand, I was comparing notes with an unnamed representative of the mainboard industry today using a GeForce GTS2 on a Dual PIII system and it turned out that, under the same conditions/ settings, I was running 30% faster than he was (with his own SDRAM KT board) and the Radeon.

Bottomline is that the RageII was a nightmare, the Fury was adequate but 6 months late (still running it in one of my main machines since the 2D quality is as good as the G400) but the Radeon makes up for all of the past flaws.

STB stood for Simply The Best but the Radeon deserves this title more than any other card I have had my hands on so far. In reality, it really doesn't make any difference whether I can run at 280 or 350 fps and that is the main difference between the Radeon and the GeForce Ultra.
