Kevin, Have you went to the Abit site and looked at the bios upgrades? Sometimes they reference problems with hard drive recognition or "problems." This probably is not the problem but it wouldn't hurt to check just to be safe. I have run three different Abit Boards now and really liked them all. Bh6 BE-6II (my favorite) and now an SE-6.
