The Gigabyte board he is talking about (GA-5AX) is actually a super socket 7 motherboard based on the Ali Aladdin V chipset. It's a pretty poor board (I have one) and the chipset doesn't have the best stability record so it doesn't surprise me that it has problems with all three DIMM sockets occupied. One of the DIMM sockets on my own board is faulty and the system won't recognise my RAM stick when it is placed in it.

Thank God I'm using the VIA KT133-based MSI K7T Pro motherboard.
